The third annual meeting of the FHCP Board of Directors was held on January 6, 2012. The FHCP Board is comprised of 10 Hollywood residents and 10 Hollywood small business owners along with 4 nonprofit representatives and 8 large business owners. FHCP officers Phil Aarons, Laurie Goldman, Alfred Fraijo, Jr., David Eads and Terri Gerger were unanimously re-elected to a one year term. Elected to serve 2-three year terms were Board members George Abou-Daoud, Christopher Barton, Douglas Campbell, Betty Fraser, David Gajda, Cheryl Gaskill, John Goodwin, Helmi Hisserich, Tricia LaBelle, Scott Rynders and Thaddeus Hunter Smith.

Following Chairman Aarons Year in Review, additional items discussed included FHCP’s upcoming advocacy trip to Washington, DC (March 18-22) and the dissolution of CRA and its impact on funding the Park’s EIR. Special guest, The Olin Studio (http://www.theolinstudio.com) offered an insightful Powerpoint presentation on creating open space in an urban environment and assessing community needs when evaluating programming.

Hollywood Central Park will fundamentally change not only the landscape of Los Angeles, but the way the world thinks about cities, infrastructural challenges, and community-building.  The impact will be profound and lasting; serving as a model for excellence environmentally, socially and economically.

At OLIN, we believe in the power of public space to transform communities.  We create places that uplift and bring people together; places that are culturally responsive, ecologically sound – places that enhance life.  Hollywood Central Park will grow from its neighborhood context, and from the unwavering advocacy of the Friends of the Hollywood Central Park and many others.  When it is complete, it will be a shining example of innovation in the heart of Hollywood.
