Letter From The ChairmanPhilip E. AaronsDear Friends, Welcome to the official website of Friends of the Hollywood Central Park. Hollywood is perhaps the most famous city in the world. Yet for those of us, who live, work and play here, it is clear that a publicly accessible park is a resource that is deeply lacking in the heart of our iconic Hollywood. The idea to “cap” the Hollywood Freeway and build Hollywood Central Park to provide 44 acres of green open space is a vision developed by local residents and nurtured by the hard work and commitment of outstanding community leaders. To realize that dream, Friends of the Hollywood Central Park was organized in 2009 and has been steadfastly devoted to establishing what will be a new landmark in our city. This transformative and ambitious project, a ribbon of green open space in the heart of Hollywood, will serve as a central gathering space for Los Angeles and its visitors to enjoy and will bring new traditions, shared experiences and healthy lifestyles to our community. As envisioned by the community, programming will include an amphitheater, walking trails, a dog park, a children’s playground, water features, recreational facilities and much more. Hollywood has long been known as “the dream factory.” The Hollywood Central Park will be part of that legacy. When the park is built, it will truly be worthy of Hollywood legend.
